Oregon Health & Science University

TThe Department of Pediatrics at Oregon Health and Science University is seeking a full-time, board certified/board eligible academic Pediatric Nephrologist at the level of Assistant Professor.  Doernbecher Children's Hospital at OHSU is the main teaching hospital for pediatrics in the state of Oregon with a full complement of subspecialty services.  The successful candidate will become the fifth member of a group of pediatric nephrologists within OHSU's clinical and academic programs.  OHSU and the Department of Pediatrics have NIH sponsored Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) and Child Health Research Center (CHRC) grants to help support junior faculty in establishing their careers.

The candidate should have a strong interest in academic medicine.  Applicants with a career focus in basic or clinical/translational research will be considered for initial support and protected time, including through institutional CHRC or CTSA grants.  In addition, applicants with academic plans in clinical care and teaching will be considered for this position.  Teaching, research and/or administrative activities will be tailored to the successful candidate's qualifications and career focus.

University of Minnesota, Department of Pediatrics 

Faculty on the clinical scholar track are physician clinician-educators with significant engagement in scholarly activities which may include clinical research, teaching, applied medical science, or publicly engaged scholarship. The selected candidate will be involved in direct patient care and the training and teaching of medical students, pediatric house officers and renal fellows, in addition to scholarly activities.

This Pediatric Nephrology Division currently has ten faculty members, an ACGME accredited fellowship program, and a long tradition of excellence in research, patient care, and academic training. Division faculty members manage strong clinical programs in general pediatric nephrology, renal replacement therapies and renal transplantation. The Division enjoys effective clinical collaborations with faculty in 17 divisions in the Department of Pediatrics, as well as faculty in Pediatric Urology, Adult Nephrology, Transplant Surgery and with pediatricians and family physicians in the Twin Cities metropolitan area and in the Upper Midwest. Division faculty are engaged in active research programs in diabetic nephropathy, Alport syndrome, Fabry disease, antibody-mediated rejection, viral diseases after transplant, medication adherence, kidney injury after bone marrow transplantation, hypertension and podocyte biology. The new University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital, which houses a dedicated pediatric hemodialysis facility, opened in April of 2011.

University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio 

The Division of Pediatric Nephrology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) is seeking to recruit a third full-time Pediatric Nephrologist at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor.  Successful candidate will be expected to serve as attending on the Nephrology service and possess excellent teaching and clinical skills.  Candidates will also be expected to develop focused basic and/or clinical research projects.  The Children's Kidney Center is located at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Children's Hospital.  The Children's Kidney Center houses all offices, the renal clinic and an 8 station dialysis unit.  Activities include medical care for 20-25 dialysis patients and transplantation of 20-25 patients a year.  The division is currently involved in multiple clinical research projects and basic research in renal development.  the School of Medicine has approximately 220 medical students at each level and division faculty are actively engaged in the training of these medical students as well as the 44 pediatric residents.
