THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO Department of Pediatrics (http://www.pediatrics.ucsd.edu) and the Rady Children Hospital Medical Foundation are recruiting a full-time faculty member at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor for the Division of Pediatric Nephrology within the Department of Pediatrics. The successful candidate will be on the research track and will have 75% protected time to pursue his or her research program, which can be either basic or translational. The ideal candidate will be a physician-scientist with a track record of excellent publications and, depending on the level of experience, successful extramural grant applications. Candidates must be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Nephrology and licensable in the state of California. The academic series is to be determined based on background and qualifications of the successful candidate. UCSD has an outstanding research environment and is leading the country in terms of extramural research grants per faculty. In addition, there are numerous research institutions in the immediate vicinity with leading scientists in almost every field, offering plentiful opportunities for collaboration. The hospital is an expanding 220-bed facility which serves as the major regional tertiary care pediatric hospital and is the primary teaching facility for the Department of Pediatrics within the UCSD School of Medicine. The Division provides a full range of general nephrology, dialysis, CRRT and apheresis as well as renal transplantation. It currently has 6 faculty members and an active ACGME-approved fellowship program. There are active extramurally-funded projects in basic science, translational as well as clinical research in the Division. Teaching of medical students, residents and fellows is also expected.

University of Louisville  

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Louisville School of Medicine is recruiting a nephrologists to join two pediatric nephrologists in an academic practice teaching residents and students.  Academic rank and track are flexible depending on qualified candidate's experience and academic interests.  The University of Louisville pediatric nephrology service runs the only full-service ESRD program in Kentucky and Southern Indiana that includes renal transplantation.  In-patient care is provided at Kosair Children's Hospital, a 263 bed free-standing children's hospital with a 26 bed pediatric critical care unit and a 97 bed neonatal intensive care unit.  The hospital has an active ECMO program.  CRRT and the full range of dialysis services are provided by the pediatric nephrology division.

The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center  

The University of New Mexico, Department of Pediatrics is recruiting a full-time faculty position in the division of Pediatric Nephrology.  The Division of Pediatric Nephrology offers complete clinical care services for infants, children and adolescents with congenital and acquired renal disease.  Inpatient consultation is provided to PICU, NICU and general pediatric services.  A pediatric outpatient dialysis unit is on-site within the Children's Hospital of New Mexico.  Pediatric renal transplantations are performed as part of an active transplant program.  Outpatient service provides care at the Children's Hospital and outreach clinics throughout the state of New Mexico.  This individual will be required to teach, provide clinical care, conduct basic or clinical research, and possess strong interpersonal skills.  The position is designed for a candidate at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with a strong interest in basic or translational research.

Preferred Qualifications:  Experience in acute and chronic dialysis in pediatric patients, experience in pediatric renal transplantation, capable of conducting basic or clinical research and experience teaching house staff and medical students.

Phoenix Children's Hospital

The section of Pediatric Nephrology at Phoenix Children's Hospital is seeking a fifth Pediatric Nephrologist for our growing practice.  Candidates are expected to participate in patient care and the teaching activities of the division.  There are abundant opportunities for clinical research.  All experience levels will be considered from immediate post-training to division chief.  We provide team oriented ESRD care, including an active transplantation program, peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis in the state's only pediatric dialysis unit.  CRRT and therapeutic apheresla are also provided.  Phoenix Children's Hospital is a private free-standing children's hospital, currently with 300 beds with our new facility slated to open in 2011 with 500+ beds.  PCH has a pediatric intensive care with 40 beds and also has 100 NICU beds.  The expansion will add nearly 200 beds and expand the PICU, making it one of the largest children's hospitals in the U.S.  Phoenix Children's Hospital has a pediatric residency training program with 24 pediatric and 6 med-peds residents per year.  The hospital is also the clinical campus for the new University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix, In collaboration with the Arizona State University.  Support from our colleagues in Urology, Surgery, Radiology, Rheumatology and Pathology is excellent.

Children's Renal Center, Medical City Children's Hospital 

Medical City Children's Hospital (MCCH) is seeking an exceptional candidate as a full time/part time BC/BE pediatric nephrologist in Dallas, Texas.  MCCH is a tertiary care referral center for North Texas and has a busy general pediatric service staffed by hospitalists, a PICU, NICU, CVICU and a full complement of pediatric subspecialists on staff.  The nephrology program is well connected with the hospitalists, subspecialists and community physicians, all from whom many referrals and consultations arise.

The pediatric nephrology program provides medical care for general nephrology issues, acute and chronic hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, acute CVVH, as well as kidney transplantation.  MCCH is a 120 bed hospital with a new state of the art PICU, NICU, CVICU and a separate child-friendly emergency department facility.  MCCH has an active congenital heart surgery program, which partners with the nephrology program to provide renal replacement therapy when needed.  Closely integrated with MCCH is the Medical City Maternal Fetal program which provides obstetrical patients with fetal renal anomalies access to early prenatal pediatric nephrology consultation and early postnatal follow-up in the NICU.  Currently under construction is a free standing Medical City Children's Hospital, scheduled to open in May 2010.  Pediatric subspecialty services including pediatric nephrology will expand with the construction of the new hospital.
